Tegnerforbundets utvalgte , bildebøker 2017

There is a clear tendency for visual imagery to have a greater place in literature, both in fiction intended for adults and in books for children and young people. In this exhibition Tegnerforbundet are showing a selection of picture books that where published during the last year. Can we see any clear directions among this year's releases, or are there any books that stand out as extra interesting?

By saying picture books, we mean books where the visuals are the main element in the storytelling. It can be comics, illustrated books or books without words. The books must have been published by a Norwegian publisher during October 2016 until November 2017.

Tegnerforbundet wants to emphasize the value of the picture book as a separate art form and raise the competence in the discussion about the picture book. Since the members of Tegnerforbundet consists of both visual artists and creators of picture books, we also want to investigate the relationship between visual art and the picture book. Is there a difference between how the image is used in a picture books and in art? What is the value of the picture as a storyteller? These questions will be addressed at a seminar organized in connection with the exhibition.

Nearly 100 picture books and comics will be shown in the exhibition.

Of the submitted books, the jury has selected originals and / or digital prints, as well as animation, which is shown Tegnerforbundet utvalgte, bildebøker, 2017.
