Bertil Greging (b. 1957) has throughout his artistic practice worked with many different expressions. From strictly graphic drawings and paintings to colorful and expressive collage and paper works. In Tegnerforbundet he shows a number of new collages done on paper and cardboard. Oil pencil, dry pastel, acrylic paint, graphite spray, tape, pencil, brush and collage glue are used interdisciplinary to form composition, lines, surfaces and colors. Some drawings are whole, others are torn or cut up to create a new whole in another work. In many of the pictures in the exhibition "Pappskallepapirarbeider" you can see the head as a shape. Nevertheless, Greging does not work on the basis of a conscious theme, but is largely influenced by the city he lives and works in, Oslo. It can be lines in a facade, a piece of paper that hangs on a lamppost or dirt and exhaust that forms a motif on the asphalt that creates visual impressions that can later be expressed in a work, intuitively and spontaneously. The process often starts with a small piece of paper or a line, and is created layer by layer. The images are expressive in their expression, but the result is never accidental. The collages are created through a process where the various parts are moved around and fastened temporarily with tape, before after careful evaluation they are permanently glued to the background. The sketch is, unlike previous periods, now eliminated from the process. There should preferably be as short a distance as possible between idea / thought and the finished work. Greging considers himself a self-taught visual artist, but visited Einar Granum Kunstskole and Westerdal's in the early 70's. The inspiration comes from within and the need to express oneself freely in the work process is a goal in itself. Bertil Greging has a number of solo and group exhibitions behind him. He has done several public commissions and has been purchased by public and private institutions.
