Invisible Clarity

In the project room, a collaborative project between Thale Fastvold and Tanja Thorjussen / LOCUS is shown.

Through photography, Thale Fastvold explores Genius Loci and with drawing Tanja Thorjussen explores Bardo, together developing the site-specific installation Kabinett which manifests a conversation with the restless souls who have helped with this project.

Thale Fastvold: Genius Loci is Latin and means the spirit of the place. In almost all cultures and at most times, you find places that are said to contain spirits or ghosts. This project shows photographs of genius loci found in Norway and Greece.

Tanja Thorjussen: Bardo is from Tibetan where Bar means liminal place/space and Do means island, or starting point. This drawing project describes a liminal time and state between death and life, before rebirth, when the spirit finds its matter.

Kabinett is an installation with sound where zoological and cosmological objects from nature and outer space have been collected.

LOCUS is an art and curatorial group consisting of Thale Fastvold (b. 1978) and Tanja Thorjussen (b. 1970). Both have completed their studies in curatorial work - exhibition and dissemination at Telemark University College (2008). Thorjussen also has a BFA in painting from Parsons in NYC and Fastvold has a Cand.mag in literature and art history from UiO and a BFA in photography from IED in Rome.
