- something seen

Stixrud has a naturalistic design language with clear and immediate studies. The color scale is subdued, controlled and fine-tuned, with a desire to get the white in the sheet to play with the composition. More than anything else, the pictures tell of something she has seen. The works from recent years are inspired by the life and poetry of Edith Södergran and Vladimir Mayakovsky. With simple and condensed forms, a connection is made between idea and expression that creates a visual force. As a demonstration of the conflict between modern civilization and nature. The exhibition is retrospective and is shown in the Project Room.

Unn Stixrud (b. 1936) is a graduate of the Norwegian School of Crafts and Design (book art class) and the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts. She made her debut at the Statens autumn exhibition in 1966, and has since had an active exhibition activity until today. Stixrud has performed several decorating assignments and has been purchased by e.g. Norwegian Cultural Council, Riksgalleriet, Vestfold County and Oslo Municipality's art collections.
