About the exhibition
We are all part of nature. In a time of unrest, climate crisis and ecological imbalance, many turn to nature – as comfort, as counterforce, as beauty. Nature offers not only a respite, but also a place for reflection, wonder and renewed connection with something greater than ourselves.
What we want with the exhibition
Drawing and nature have a long and intertwined history. From scientific illustrations and botanical studies, to poetic landscapes and symbolic representations – nature has been a central source of motif, method and material.
Drawing itself is closely linked to nature – both in materiality and motif. Paper comes from trees, drawing tools such as charcoal and pencil have natural origins.
Many artists are inspired by nature, reproducing it in detail, translating it into new narratives and idioms, or using it as a backdrop for existential and societal questions. At the same time, nature must increasingly be protected, from ourselves and other people.
What does nature mean to people today? How can art help strengthen our relationship with it?
We welcome proposals for projects that explore nature through the language of drawing – whether through careful observation, conceptual approaches, sensory approaches or critical reflections. These may include studies of botany and landscape, investigations of ecology, place attachment, biodiversity, climate change – or more personal interpretations.
Drawing nature requires attention, presence and the ability to see. We want to highlight artists who use the uniqueness of drawing – precision, sensitivity, time, spontaneity and concentration – to approach nature today.
We look forward to receiving your application!
Exhibition program 2026 and 2027
