Announcement Comic Book of the Year 2025

Serieteket (Deichman Grünerløkka), Grafill and Tegnerforbundet is now looking for candidates for the 2025 Comic Book of the Year . The award will be presented to a Norwegian comic book creator who has distinguished himself at a high professional level and who has produced the best Norwegian comic book in the period from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2025. The award comes with a cash prize of NOK 30,000. The award will help raise the importance of Norwegian comic book creators and stimulate the professional level of the artists. The Comic Book of the Year will be presented during the Oslo Comics Expo on Saturday, September 20, 2025.

The deadline for submissions is Thursday, April 24th at 4:00 PM.

Criteria:

- The comic must have been published between April 1, 2024 and March 31, 2025.
- The comic must be an independent publication published by a Norwegian publisher.
- The cartoon can be for children, teenagers or adults.
- The comic must be an original Norwegian publication intended for a Norwegian audience.
- Comics that have previously been published, but have later been collected in a separate publication, will also be considered.

If the jury sees that key works have not been submitted, it can obtain them itself.

3 copies are sent by courier or delivered directly to Tegnerforbundet . All copies must be received no later than Thursday, April 24th at 4:00 PM. Copies delivered after this time risk not being included in the assessment.

About the jury

Serieteket (Deichman Grünerløkka), Grafill and Tegnerforbundet each nominates a jury candidate, professionals with broad expertise in the field of comics. The task of the professional jury is to read all submissions from cover to cover and then nominate publications and select a winner. They assess the overall concept, uniqueness and communication ability, script, craftsmanship and production technical factors.

This is the jury for 2025:

Kjersti Furu
The jury representative of the Serieteket grew up among Sølvpilen and Filur, and has always had a big heart for both comics and all other forms of literature. Kjersti Furu is a trained librarian and copywriter and works as a special librarian at the Serieteket at Deichman Grünerløkka, where she is also the program manager for Oslo Comics Expo. She has broad experience from the dissemination of literature for both children and adults, and insight into how to reach the target audience.

Cha Sandmæl
Grafill's jury representative is a cartoonist and illustrator. Cha Sandmæl holds a bachelor's and master's degree in Fine Art from Aberystwyth University in Wales and has been creating comics for ten years. He is best known for the fantasy comic book Dragens Øye which has been published in Norway, Sweden, Denmark and France.

Kristoffer Kjølberg
The jury representative of the Norwegian Artists' Association is an illustrator, cartoonist and graphic designer. Kristoffer Kjølberg has a degree from both Westerdals and the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and has illustrated a number of children's books and participated in several exhibitions. He is also behind publications with the cartoon collective Dongery, which he helped start in 1997. In addition to illustration and design assignments for clients such as Netflix, Morgenbladet, Gyldendal, Cappelen Damm and Samlaget, he has illustrated an entire play, the performance "Draum om våren" at Det norske teater in the autumn consisting of nearly 400 drawings.
