The foundation for the series "Somewhere, There" was laid when Lande chose to reproduce her favorite poster as a drawing. She found it in 1999 and it shows a photo from Uluwatu on the island of Bali, a place she herself has never been and doubts she will ever go. It functions more as an imagined place.
Lande chose to reproduce the poster in order to understand why it had accidentally become so important to her. Uluwatu is located at the very edge of what looks like an additional part of the island of Bali. The photograph isolates fragments of reality. During the drawing process, the focus on details is strengthened further. The pencil acts as a subjective seismometer with the sheet as a recording surface. The details reappear, patchily, on the paper. The graphite layer gradually takes shape. Surroundings are formed.
