With the title Wer ist wo wer? Was ist wo was? - Identitet: menneske og sted (Identity: human and place) The 36th Østlandsutstillingen is shown in Oslo again, for the first time in 13 years.

Østlandsutstillingen is an annual open, juried regional exhibition that shows and communicates contemporary art in the seven eastern counties of Akershus, Buskerud, Hedmark, Oppland, Oslo, Vestfold and Østfold. This year's exhibition is a collaboration between Østlandsutstillingen and the German artists' organization BBK Schleswig-Holstein. The exhibition will first open at three venues in Oslo; Gallery LNM, Tegnerforbundet and Gallery BOA, central located in Kvadraturen in Oslo. Later, the exhibition will be shown in the gallery of the Landesbibliothek in Kiel. With its free submission right and anonymous jurying, Østlandsutstillingen is one of the few larger exhibitions where newcomers are shown side by side with more established artists.

The exhibition will be shown in Oslo from 6th June to 5th July and in Germany in spring 2016.

In our time, identity is explored through, among others, research, art and individual thoughts about ones own life. We hope and believe that the diverse expressions of contemporary art can inspire the viewer to understand their own identity in new ways and contribute to illuminating this universal, but at the same time site-specific theme seen through interesting point of views. One's own experience of identity can be strongly linked to different places, and the context in which one experiences art can have great significance for how it is seen in the context of both the individual and society.

Through the announcement of the project, we therefore invited the artists to answer various questions: How does the place where art is seen (art in public space, art at exhibitions, art in people's homes) affect the identity-forming process in people? Is the artist's and the viewer's own identity affected by the place or the art? In the exhibition, you will be able to experience paintings, drawings, graphic works, sculptures, video, performance and site-specific works. This broad medial and visual spectrum will, in turn, inspire the public to deal with different thoughts related to identity.

The thematic focus and a desire to emphasize performance have been embodied in the announcement of the application text and in the jury's work. Five artists from Norway and Germany collaborated with an art historian and a curator on the selection of the works: Natalie Hope O'Donnell (curator NO / GB), Tulle Ruth Koefoed-Jespersen (artist and jury leader, NO), Jens Martin Neumann (art historian, D ), Anders Petersen (artist, D), Monika Rathlev (artist, D), Marianne Tjønn (artist, NO) and Hans Martin Øien (artist, NO). In addition, representatives from Performance Art Oslo contributed to the selection of the performance artists.
