Not in the face! Not in the face!

Per Teljer has produced all his works during the year 2016, which was largely characterized by collective horror and grief over famous people who passed away, terror, political events and movements in the world. There are no direct visual references to these events in Teljer's pictures, but there is no doubt that they have influenced him, and influenced his thoughts, expressions and motives. It is his own fears, phobias and worries that speak for themselves in the dark, dystopian works of coal and oil on canvas.

- When I now do final accounts for the year 2016 through my work, I can clearly feel the condition of my own, small studio in parallel, and in relation to, the large condition out there at the same time.

In Norway and internationally, Per Teljer is best known as a video and filmmaker. First in the art group Sunny Heart Videos (1994-1997), and since 1997 with his own productions. In 2014, however, he put the camera aside and returned to drawing and painting. Per Teljer (born 1970) is a graduate from The Art Academy in Trondheim (1992 to 1997). He has been purchased by Museet for Samtidskunst, Bergen Kunstmuseum, Norsk Kulturråd and The National Museum of Art, Architecture and Design. He lives and works in Berlin and Oslo.
