Elgaard Mortensen works within a low-key, minimal picture universe. His drawings often consist of two to four different elements, some abstract, others realistic. The motifs are small, so a large part of the drawings consist exclusively of the white surface of the paper. This gives the works a calm and meditative expression that is matched by a latent horror in the choice of motif. In the pictures shown in Tegnerforbundet we find i.a. scalps, skulls and scene from an illegal demonstration.
The title "Affair" can mean an unknown journey. This could have been the artist's motto. He is interested in formulating poetic statements that are characterized by the unfinished and ambiguous.
Rune Elgaard Mortensen (b. 1980 in Denmark) has a Master's degree from the Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo, and has also studied at the art academies in Aarhus and Trondheim. Since 2004, he has participated in several group exhibitions at home and abroad. Purchased by i.a. St. Olavs hospital, Trondheim.
