Exhibition opening on Thursday 23 August at 6 p.m.

Theoretical, abstract, hygienic, minimal conceptualism meets

sensitivity, melancholy and feelings in general

Tegnerforbundet are proud to start the autumn with Tegneklubben. The exhibition fills the entire gallery and is curated by Monica Holmen.

As a curator, it has been my enjoyable task to be allowed to dig in the Drawing Club's archive. With low thresholds and ceiling height for the most part, the club has since 2004 created a safe space for freedom and foolishness. The club discusses, comments and highlights a number of topics and conditions in the immediate vicinity, but also many other strange and absurd, interspersed with fragments of text and one-liners, in the form of drawing, painting, collage - and always on A4 sheets.

The club's extensive practice has generated an archive of over 10,000 works, and a diverse world of images that undoubtedly hits something in anyone and everyone. Anyone who says otherwise is lying. Meet sweaty yoga people, Trump, proposals for art projects, logos and museums, disobedient objects and bananas, paint scraps, eggs and elephants, and not least absurd pieces of text that add meaning to a seemingly meaningless universe.

From the dusty darkness of the boxes, I have picked free work after raucous subjective impulses, occasionally corrected by more intellectual reflexes. Some darlings had to pay with their lives along the way, but that's always the case.
