In 2026, Tegnerforbundet celebrates its 110th anniversary with a program that explores the historical roots, contemporary practices, and future possibilities of drawing. The anniversary year will highlight both continuity and renewal in the field of drawing – from established, long-standing artistry to new and experimental expressions.
As part of the celebration, Tegnerforbundet presents a major anniversary exhibition where the breadth of today's drawing art is central. The exhibition highlights the entire spectrum of expressions, methods and perspectives that characterize our members' practices. The members of the Norwegian Drawing Center constitute a unique and diverse circle, from newspaper cartoonists and illustrators to visual artists who work experimentally and conceptually. This variation forms a rich and vivid picture of what drawing is - and what drawing can become.
With the anniversary exhibition, we want to showcase this diversity of voices and practices. Here, traditional drawing tools will meet digital processes, and craft-based work will stand side by side with technological and hybridized approaches. Through this breadth, the exhibition will clarify how the art of drawing today is in continuous movement.
By bringing together such a broad range of practices, we want to mark what the organization has been and what characterizes it today and in the future. We are proud to be able to take the line seriously together with all our members, regardless of expression, medium, theme or working method. In the anniversary year 2026, this diversity will stand out clearly, and together the artists will provide a holistic and vital picture of the art of drawing today.
