UTTAK (extract)
Trond Hugo Haugen shows several new works as an extract from a work process and from an artistic practice. This extraction starts with a series of charcoal drawings that look at national events in the period from 1975 to 2014, sorted by what time in the day the events took place. - These are events that we still collectively remember and they have shaped the society we live in by challenging our legal, economic and moral boundaries, which have triggered new organization, new regulations and new legislation with the intention of protecting us. Common to them all is the human choice the events represent, either as an indirect or direct cause of the event, or the choices that were made afterwards by the authorities, survivors or the press. In addition to drawings, the extracts shows animation, photography and a sound work. All together, Haugen draws a picture of our time and our choices, where he also asks where the artist has his place. Trond Hugo Haugen (b. 1975) works with the main emphasis on drawing and major art projects in public space within a political, historical and site specific context. He is a graduate from The Art Academy in Trondheim, he runs the publishing house noCUBE and he has been purchased by Malmö Art Museum, Stavanger Art Museum and the city of Gothenburg.
