We congratulate our member Ane Barstad Solvang who received the Norwegian Drawing Center´s travel grant 2022.
This year's jury consisted of Flu Hartberg and Johannes Høie.
The jury's reasoning:
"This year's scholarship jury has decided to grant the travel scholarship for 2022 to Ane Barstad Solvang.
Barstad writes in her application that she will use the scholarship for a stay in Leipzig, Germany, where she is invited to be a festival artist during the Leipzig Cosmic Comic Convention. We hope and believe that this extra travel money will contribute to Barstad having time to connect useful threads to the big foreign countries, and get the most out of her stay there.
Ane Barstad Solvang has excelled in both the art and comic book world with a rough and humorous watercolor style. We perceive Barstad's project as socially engaged and courageous, and wish good luck in Germany. "
Ane Barstad Solvang holds a BA in Arts in Creative Writing from Roehampton University, London.
