With YOUNG drawing NOW! will Tegnerforbundet examine what is happening among the younger generation of artists. The exhibition has been created through a juried open call, and it presents a selection of artists who in different ways examine and expand the understanding of what drawing can contain today.
In the face of an art world where technological, material and conceptual shifts are occurring at a rapid pace, the exhibition provides insight into how young artists relate to both traditional techniques and new media. Several of the artists move in the borderland between analog and digital processes, while others continue and transform the classic expression of drawing. In this way, we seek to highlight how the understanding of drawing's form and material is continuously negotiated and renewed.
Thematically, the artists focus on a wide range of issues, such as identity, body, belonging, nature, mythology, social life, technology and visions of the future. Their work is characterized by both imaginative, poetic and analytical approaches, and together they constitute a diversity of perspectives that reflect a generation in motion.
