Title / theme: Tegning som ytring (Drawing as an expression)

The 2012 Drawing Biennial focused on drawing.
as an expression. The Biennale took a debating position and looked at how
drawing can take over where writing stops. How do artists illuminate
commitment and in which languages? The jury of the Drawing Biennial wanted to highlight the following:
How can drawing question conditions in society and be used in the political arena?
the discussion? Can drawing be used to show social engagement? The biennial highlights
the friction between direct, political expressions and more indirect narrative forms.
The Biennale put the spotlight on what qualities expressions of a personal, abstract nature
can have side by side with strong, unambiguous statements.
