Tegnerforbundet's project "Illustrators in Residence" (IIR) was organized for the first time in 2015, and aims to highlight the high quality and diversity in Norwegian illustration art. By allowing selected actors from the field to make the Tegnerforbundet's project room their own throughout June, the public will get an insight into various work processes and greater familiarity with the field.
The third "Illustrator in Residence" in June is Katarina Caspersen.
During its project period in Tegnerforbundet Katarina Caspersen (1992) will further develop her master's project which deals with phenomena such as mass tourism and the inaccessibility of the world around us. Instead of traditional drawing tools, Caspersen uses film and cardboard. The work is an installation of live cameras from around the world that are projected onto boxes that become an architectural structure in the room. The work is about seeing, and the boxes form focused sections, almost like a cartoon where moving images tell a story.
Katarina Caspersen will finish her master's degree in graphic design and illustration at the University of the Arts in Oslo in June 2018. She combines the subjects of illustration and scenography and wants to show the illustration field with a new look and a different perspective. Caspersen has had several illustration commissions for Gyldendal publishing house and various magazines such as Kunsthåndverk, ERGO and Røyst. She has participated in collective exhibitions both at home and abroad such as at the Bergen Art book fair, the Museum of Contemporary Art, Oslo, Kristiansand Kunsthall and Galleri Zeitzone, Berlin.
On Thursday, 28 July at 5 pm, there will be a "Tegnesnakk Spesial" (Drawing Talk) with the participants in "Illustrators in Residence". Read more here .
