YOUNG IN DRAWING – Create your own book!

Do you have or know children between the ages of 9 and 12 who enjoy telling stories and exploring how a book is made? We invite you to a book workshop with visual artist Vibeke Luther, where participants will create their own book. We will explore the book's many possibilities to tell a story or transform it into something completely different than a book!

About the course

During the course, participants will learn how to create a book that can tell a story, be a diary, or a work of art. This is an exciting opportunity for both novice and experienced storytellers, creative thinkers, and book enthusiasts.

We will explore different folding techniques and creative methods borrowed from the art of bookbinding and participants will get to design their own book and take it home after the course.

The course is characterized by experimentation, where each participant will explore their own way of creating and exploring the content and form of the book. This is a course with a focus on learning and joy where rules are to be broken and the book is to be challenged.

About the course instructor

Vibeke Luther (b. 1979) is a Norwegian visual artist and graphic artist with a Bachelor and Master in graphic design from the Surrey Institute of Art and Design in England.

She uses the book as a starting point in her art, where the book's graphic design language, format and craftsmanship are explored and used interchangeably. The book has become a guide for how we read, perceive content and how it can create wonder and joy when exhibited as a work of art. She has previously worked as a master of works at both the Oslo National Academy of the Arts and Guttormsgaards Arkiv, has given courses for both children and adults for over ten years and runs a small publishing house that produces artist books.
