Do you have or do you know children between the ages of 9-12 who want to learn different techniques in charcoal drawing in a fun and playful way? Then we recommend the workshop Introduction to charcoal drawing for children together with the two Sámi contemporary artists Marte Lill Somby and Laila Labba on Saturday 17 December at 1-3pm in Tegnerforbundet .
The workshop focuses on the exhibition Material Sensitivity and Material Power with Iver Jåks .

In the workshop, the course instructors Laila Labba and Marte Lill Somby will show examples from their own work and talk about their own approach to drawing and how drawing is an important part of their artistic practice. Laila Labba is one of the exhibitors in the exhibition Material Sensitivity and Material Power with Iver Jåks and will talk about her contribution to the exhibition. The course holders will also focus on Sámi art through their own artistry. At the same time, they will actively use Iver Jåks' drawings and sculptures from the exhibition for simple drawing exercises.
Furthermore, the participants will get several concrete exercises using charcoal on paper, looking at light and shadow before they get a longer drawing task. The aim of the course is to show how sketches can be created with charcoal, rubber and paper, as well as see how the graphic approach with black paper and chalk changes the shape and expression of the drawings. Drawing as play and fun!
