About the event
The picture book Mora mi by renowned illustrator Trond Bredesen was published by No Comprendo Press in 2023.
The book depicts Trond Bredesen's mother with dementia at the end of her life in an honest and unsentimental way, but with humor and love. Work on the book began when his mother moved into an institution, where he took notes and drew what she said and did. Through pictures and movies, he tried to preserve the time, place and situation. His mother's confused comments, an unappetizing toilet seat and a bedside table filled with medication, chocolate, energy drinks and diapers became interesting subjects and inspiration for the script. During the two years his mother lived in the home, a large pile of documents was accumulated that eventually became the book Mora mi.
During the presentation, we will get an insight into Bredesen's extensive work on this very personal book. There will also be opportunities to ask questions along the way.
After the book presentation, there will be a book signing where you can take home a signed copy of Mora mi!
About Trond Bredesen
Trond Bredesen (b. 1956) was educated at Notodden Teacher Training College and Fachhochschule Münster in Germany. He has worked as a freelance illustrator since 1983. He has won a number of awards for his illustrations in Visuelt, Gullblyanten and Årets Vakreste Bøker. In 2013, he won the Ministry of Culture's illustration prize for children's and youth books for the 16-volume series "The Art Detectives" written by Bjørn Sortland. Bredesen works in all illustration categories. He is particularly known for his packaging for Tine, stamps and retro-style covers and posters. He is also an entertaining speaker, presenter and musician.
