MANGA COURSE IN COLLABORATION WITH OUTLAND PUBLISHER

Join a creative and action-packed manga workshop with illustrator Hiwar Nheli! Here you will learn how to build your own world – from the first idea to finished comic strips. Whether you are a beginner or a long-time artist, you will learn to bring your characters and stories to life in true manga style!

About the course

Manga simply means cartoon in Japanese, but it is also an art form of its own, full of energy, emotion and storytelling. In this workshop you will learn how manga is made, from idea and script to finished illustrations. You will develop your own characters, build the worlds they live in, and shape their story step by step.

The course is suitable for all levels, whether you have never drawn before or are already filling your sketchbook with figures. You will receive personal guidance, creative tasks and lots of inspiration. After the course, you will be left with the start of your very own manga story, and the tools to continue the story!

About Outland Publishing

Outland is Norway's leading retailer of comics, books, games, Lego, and not least manga. Outland is not only concerned with retail, but wants to be a player in cultural dissemination in Norway. That is why Outland Publishing was established in 2016 to make more comics of various kinds available in Norwegian. An important part of Outland's publishing business is to inspire the joy of reading among young and new readers by introducing them to quality comics. In 2020, the first volume in the manga anthology series Rakkan was published. Each volume contains six different stories from Norwegian manga creators, and gives us a taste of a new type of manga stories.

The event is part of the outreach program YOUNG IN DRAWING, supported by the DNB Savings Bank Foundation.
