In issue 139 of NUMER you get an update on the latest events in the fields of visual arts, illustration, comics and picture books. Øyvind Holen, Anne Schäffer, Egon Låstad and Kjetil Røed are behind the news columns . Tora Sanden Døskeland has interviewed visual artist Käte-Elin Madsen about how she turns inward towards her dreams when she draws. Madsen recently retired after having been BA coordinator and university lecturer in drawing at the Faculty of Art, Music and Design at the University of Bergen. Inger Marie Kjølstadmyr is in charge of the second major interview in this issue. She has visited illustrator Hilde Hodnefjeld to talk about her fantastic books – and a bit about self-confidence. Anne Schäffer gives us reports from the new edition of the Nordic Children's Book Conference and from the exhibition Från Moomin til Chop Chop . Satirist May Linn Clement shows her work, and Lene Fjørtoft has written a review of The British Museum's exhibition Nordic Noir . Christmas is approaching, and Stig Andersen takes us to the Nynorsk Christmas booklets from Fonna forlag and writes about Vangsgutane and Ingeniør Knut Berg . The big surprise in this issue is the launch of the satire magazine EXLEX , which you will find as a supplement in NUMER .

Cover: Käte-Elin Madsen.

NOTE: NUMER 139 is available in Tegnerforbundet and on Teksallmenningen from Thursday, December 4th.
