Theme of the workshop: Let's stand and draw and use paper in different sizes.

Entrance to the National Museum is included when you buy a ticket for this event. Meet in the Print and Drawing Gallery on the 2nd floor, access via room 76.

About the workshops

The workshops are suitable both for those who have drawn a little before and for those who have more experience. In the workshops, you will experience how drawing on black paper differs from drawing on white paper and how colored pencils work differently on black paper versus white paper. You will have the opportunity to try out a projector as a tool and test how to draw from a photo taken with a mobile phone. We will reflect on what a self-portrait means and test out what it is like to draw standing up versus sitting down. In all workshops, we will set aside time at the end of the session to look at each other's drawings and talk about them.

About Hanne Lydia Opøien Figenschou

Drawing is a central part of Hanne Lydia Opøien Figenschou's practice. In her work, she explores various themes related to gender and identity, domestic violence, self-portraiture, issues related to abortion and the relationship between public and private space. Figenschou draws mainly with colored pencils on black paper. In recent years, she has explored drawing with colored pencils within warm and cold shades of gray. The work Falling Heroes, shown in the exhibition "My life! My choice?", is an example of this.

Hanne Lydia Opøien Figenschou was born in Trondheim (1964) and lives and works in Oslo and Tromsø. She was educated at the Art School in Kabelvåg (1986-87), the Art Academy in Trondheim (1987-91) and Konstfack in Stockholm (1991-92). Figenschou has participated in group exhibitions and held numerous solo exhibitions. She has also received several awards for her work.
