About the exhibition
The exhibition presents a selection of Erik Werenskiold's drawings for Jonas Lie's novel The Family at Gilje (1883) together with new works by contemporary artists Hanne Lydia Opøien Figenschou and Gelawesh Waledkhani. Their works were commissioned by the National Museum and enter into a dialog with Werenskiold's drawings and the novel's content, while also emerging from the artists' own lives and our time.In this conversation, you will have the opportunity to gain a deeper insight into the artists' processes and thoughts about their choice of motifs and the themes of the exhibition.
